Villa Bloemenwerf by Van de Velde in Uccle

Beschrijving

Nestled in a leafy street of Uccle, Villa Bloemenwerf is the very first home designed by Henry van de Velde, a pioneer of modern architecture. Built in 1895-96 for his own family, it was conceived as a holistic creation, where every detail—facade, furniture, layout—was envisioned by the architect. Inspired by the British Arts & Crafts movement, the villa features white plastered walls, blue-framed windows, and a distinctive pavilion roof. The interior radiates warmth and harmony, carefully crafted to unite beauty and function. The garden, designed by Van de Velde’s wife Maria Sèthe, bridges interior and landscape with elegance. Now listed as protected heritage, this residence exemplifies the ideal of the “gesamtkunstwerk”: a total work of art where life and design converge. A rare opportunity for those seeking not just a home, but a meaningful place in architectural history.
